Recently, Thomas Katona, the treasure of Alcona County in Michigan was charged for embezzling funds in order to send the money to Nigerian Advance Fee Scammers http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/18/us/18scam.html). How a public official could be duped into such a stupid action, is up to voters of Alcona County to decide. After all they reelected him twice as county treasure after he pled guilty to fraud after falsifying documents for his clients.
E-Mail Scams dupe the stupid, the very stupid.
February 23rd, 2007HB2286 is killed!
February 6th, 2007Phoenix Rep. Krysten Sinema had her HB2286 killed in committee, as was well deserved. The mainstream media of course touted this as a victory for organizations such as the Minutemen and other border patrolling groups. Phoenix Lawmaker wants to jail crimefighters.
January 24th, 2007Phoenix Rep. Krysten Sinema would have the state declare that anyone attempting to detect alleged illegal activity while armed to be a domestic terrorist and put them in jail. HB2286 brings a new level of stupidity to the state legislative agenda! Imagine if you will, your 75 year old neighbor calling because she thinks there is an intruder outside her house. You go outside to have a look around, first grabbing a baseball bat for protection. The next thing you know you are sentenced to an 18 month prison term for domestic terrorism, while in the meantime your elderly neighbor has been raped and murdered in her bed.
Will the wind ever stop?
January 22nd, 2007It seems like the wind has not stopped blowing in Yuma for ages. Between the wind and the recent cold, going outside is becoming a chore. Some winter visitors are probably wondering if Yuma’s warmer temperatures were worth the trip. I guess I need to harken back to winters in Alaska & Colorado to remind myself why I moved to Yuma. Perhaps a hot toddy is called for to break the tedium.
