I have run across a few items recently which I find quite stupid. I am not sure that by themselves any are worthy of a blog entry so I thought I would just lump them all together.
Stupid Stuff
September 12th, 2007Float the Colorado River!
September 6th, 2007I really enjoy the lower Colorado River’s recreational opportunities. Recently on one hot Saturday, my grandson Alex and I decided we had an extra 90 minutes and wanted to go play in the river. While Gateway Park is fun place to spend some time, we were looking for something a bit more adventuresome. So we decided to float the river.
Annexation Vote Sept 11
September 4th, 2007With one week to go until the voters of Yuma decide if it is wise to annex 92 square miles to be within the City limits. It is a bit ironic that those most impacted by the move will not be voting on the issue. One thing you can bet on is that if the annexation vote passes that further legal actions will be taken by those opposed to the Yuma takeover. This will mean even more tax dollars being spent trying to defend this questionable annexation.
Community Apathy in Yuma
August 26th, 2007I have seen a lot of comments recently bemoaning the lack of community involvement in local politics. In fact, it seems that only a few regularly participate in or comment on local affairs. I sometimes wonder if this serves as tacit approval for the status quo. Another thought is that the local citizenry feel that their input will not be considered orvalued in the political process.
Chinese Poison Americans
August 4th, 2007Recently, I find myself seeking out products in my household that have been recalled. First it was dog food that may have been contaminated by ingrediants imported from China. Then came the search for red Thomas the Tank Engine toys made in China that had lead paint. Now we hear that many Mattel products manufactured in China are being recalled to avoid poisoning children.
