Holiday Fever

It seems that Christmas is upon us once again, like it or not! I have nothing against Christmas, but isn’t early November too soon to start the celebration? I have seen several different Holiday lighting displays that have been put up (and a few that were just plugged in again after being left up all year)!

As Yuma’s next election day nears, we continue to hear about the proposed 25% increase in the hospitality tax. As is usual there has been quite a bit of misinformation generated by those with a vested interest in passing the proposition.

Recently, I find myself seeking out products in my household that have been recalled. First it was dog food that may have been contaminated by ingrediants imported from China. Then came the search for red Thomas the Tank Engine toys made in China that had lead paint. Now we hear that many Mattel products manufactured in China are being recalled to avoid poisoning children.

Circuit City turns back on customer service!

Big box Electronics retailer Circuit City found that approximately 8% of their workforce were working hard, getting good performance reviews, and thereby providing good service to their customers. This week, Circuit City gathered these outstanding employees at each store and advised them of the corporate policy to good employees. Each of these employees was advised that they were being FIRED in recognition of the fact that they worked so hard.

There is no doubt about it! Yuma suffers from a lack of venues for small to large events. Musical acts and promoters complain about it. Local sports and music fans complain about it. In fact there has been a clamoring for the local government to do something about it.
