After taking Democratic House Representative Sinema to task for stupidity in HB2286, it now seems to fair to look at the Republican Senator from District 22, Thayer Verschoor, and his Senate Bill 1542. This bill purports to stop the advocacy by public school teachers of political opinions, but goes much further than that. In fact it keeps teachers from advocating a position on any social, political, or cultural issue that is a matter of partisan controversy.

Phoenix Lawmaker wants to jail crimefighters.
Wednesday, January 24th, 2007Phoenix Rep. Krysten Sinema would have the state declare that anyone attempting to detect alleged illegal activity while armed to be a domestic terrorist and put them in jail. HB2286 brings a new level of stupidity to the state legislative agenda! Imagine if you will, your 75 year old neighbor calling because she thinks there is an intruder outside her house. You go outside to have a look around, first grabbing a baseball bat for protection. The next thing you know you are sentenced to an 18 month prison term for domestic terrorism, while in the meantime your elderly neighbor has been raped and murdered in her bed.
