Holiday Fever

It seems that Christmas is upon us once again, like it or not! I have nothing against Christmas, but isn’t early November too soon to start the celebration? I have seen several different Holiday lighting displays that have been put up (and a few that were just plugged in again after being left up all year)!

Earlier this month, my wife was looking to pick up some Thanksgiving themed napkins at a big box store. When she was unable to find the Thanksgiving decorations, she asked a store employee for help. She was a bit perturbed to be told that the Thanksgiving stuff could be found along with the Halloween leftovers, as the seasonal aisles were now only for Christmas. Now understand this was a full two weeks or more before Thanksgiving. Several Yuma stores began playing  Christmas music the first week of November. The television commercial are taking a decided slant to Christmas as well.

Am I the only one that thinks that it is still way too early?  While I understand that merchants depend on the Holiday season for much of their livelihood, I think the message to “Buy, Buy, Buy!” can wait a while longer. I would like to at least see Thanksgiving pass before all the Christmas hoopla starts. The Christmas season is already considered to be very stressful. Starting to hype the holiday seven weeks in advance certainly can not help.
