I have seen a lot of comments recently bemoaning the lack of community involvement in local politics. In fact, it seems that only a few regularly participate in or comment on local affairs. I sometimes wonder if this serves as tacit approval for the status quo. Another thought is that the local citizenry feel that their input will not be considered orvalued in the political process.
I spend a lot of time looking at local media and community based websites. Often it seems that there is a stigma attached to those that pay attention to what is going on and attempt to make their voices heard. I have been told that my online comments on local affairs  make me a gadfly. Well so be it! More people need to make their voices heard in Yuma. For far too long the decision making process has been limited to a select few.
